LOUISVILLE, KY (October 27TH, 2021)
LMPD released a brief statement saying officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 2500 block of River Bend Drive just after midnight on Tuesday October 26th, 2021. Beth Ruoff, LMPD spokesperson, stated Metro Safe reported there was an armed person at the scene.
“At least one LMPD officer” fired their weapon, shooting and killing the man after a man allegedly fired at officers according to Ruoff. No identities for the man not officer have been released.
Ruoff said body Kentucky State Police are currently reviewing body camera footage from the officers involved.
Captain Paul Blanton of Kentucky State Police stated they are committed to transparency, but must follow standard operating procedure, which does not allow the release of details or evidence (body camera footage) until after the investigation has concluded. No timeline was provided for the investigation.
The employment assignment and status of the officers involved are currently unknown.
